HER FAMILY WRITES THE FOLLOWING:
Georgie is a 2 year old Great Pyrenees with lots of love to give. Typical to the Pyrenees breed, she is incredibly smart and mostly independent. She has been through an obedience course that uses clicker training and knows all of her basic commands (sit, stay, leave it, off, come, paw, other paw). She walks very well on a leash and even better with a harness, which we recommend for longer walks. She loves hiking and splashing in rivers and laying in the shade when she is outside. A fenced in yard would be great. We tried some off-leash training, but the independence of the breed makes it a little riskier than with others.
She has learned to play with toys and LOVES to throw a ball to herself to chase. Fetch is still on the to-learn list. If she has some extra energy and you can’t take a good walk, a brain puzzle or mind exercise will tire her out just the same! Indoors, she mostly enjoys sleeping nearby while you work and knows to stay off the couch.
She still has some puppy energy bursts, mostly in the evening, so I would not recommend a home with small children due to her size, speed, and still-developing coordination. She has an unfortunate, and explainable, history of biting a toddler who had too much love to give, himself. Again, a home with older children would be best. She shows some fear of loud, unpredictable behavior.
She currently lives (mostly) peacefully with two cats and has had successful play-dates with other dogs that she can be with off-leash or on a walk together. Dog parks have been a source of anxiety. She shows no resource guarding surrounding food or toys. Alas, she would love to catch a squirrel one day. She does not bark the way you might read the Pyrenees breed does, and learns to quietly watch those who frequent the neighborhood by being pet and gently told that everything is ok when they walk by. Same goes for the pet goldfish you may also have at your house ????
We love Georgie with all our hearts, but know that she deserves a family she can completely relax around.
